Message It's actually the main reason for doing it and it's what prevents the flow the most. The flashing is like a wall back there in most cases. I broke off the larger chunks before I sent it off to the engine rebuilder (did this in the back of the truck right before I dropped it off as I just learned about it). Hammer and screw driver pop out the freeze plugs. Then the engine shop smoothed everything down. I would have but it was already loaded and ready to drop off.
